Ella Ella's subgroup Ella and her subgroup two years ago

It's with great happiness that i announce to you all that Ella is back in the park with her subgroup of nine and they are all looking good and healthy. It has been a little over four months since she disappeared just before Echo's death. What's even better is, Elettra's 08 calf and Emma's 09 calf are both alive and in good shape, whereas Enid, Ebony, Eleanor and Eudora have all lost their calves.

I first saw them the 4th Sep 2009 between Serena Hotel and Ol-Tukai Orok, resting in the morning hours, coming from the southern side outside the park. Nobody knows exactly where they have been for the entire period, but I just wish she could take the entire EB family back where she came from.

Our guess was, she and her group would go straight looking for the other members of the EBs, but they were seen the following day by Norah walking along Enkongu Narok swamp near Observation Hill. Again today they were seen near the swamp and later by night fall they came back to Ol-Tukai Orok on the side facing Serena. So far they have been crossing from Ol-Tukai Orok to Enkongu Narok swamp and back.

It is good to hear that Ella has returned, lets hope that the family will get together and form a new big group. How is the drought affecting the elephants?

What great news! Thank you very much Solia.
How are the other members in the EB? I am just wondering is Eliot's only surviving calf in good shape? Did you see Little Male again? Is he doing OK?
Thank you in advance for you time. All the best!

Eliot is Echo's Daughter

Fri, 2009-09-11 16:40 by hge

Hi Hans, what is that? Eliot is Echo's daughter, she is younger than Enid but older than Ely. Sadly she lost all her first 3 calves that's why I wish her best of luck on her 4th one, a girl.
Did I put the wrong name?

Soila thankyou,
Its great to hear some good news and the pictures are lovely
I am pleased Ella has returned to the park with her group and the calfs are all doing well.
Sad to hear that the others have lost their calfs but it must give you all some comfort in these difficult times to see them return.
Do you think Ella knows that Echo has died or do you think she may be looking for her by moving to and from Ol Tukai where Echo spent a lot of her time?
I really hope she stays to reform the EBs into a big group again and guide them forward.
Thankyou
Alison.

I'm so glad they're all safe! Especially that the two calves are doing so well.

I bet it will be pretty exciting for the family when they all come back together. Now we'll see if Ella will come in and take over after she adjusts to Echo being gone..
