Dear Elephant Research Team,

Here are some photos of your landy on Christmas day that I snapped while I was there too.
Also out of interest do you have names for the attached elephants (the first is a large tailess bull).

How about adding the images as images (using the "Images" tab), so they are immediately visible and appear in the image gallery? Currently the first one is an image, while the others are file attachments. Thus, when you open the image gallery, you currently see only the first one.

Such great pictures, thank you!

I have to admit I'm not sure about the first bull - our only known tail-less male is Pigtail, but this doesn't look quite like him to me. I need to check with the other ladies to be certain. But the second bull is definitely Adam. Where did you take his picture? I haven't seen him in a while and we've been wondering where he's been hanging out. He's a truly gorgeous male now, born in 1973 and one of our oldest males with a known mother.

Thanks for sharing such beautiful images. I hope you enjoyed Christmas in Amboseli as much as we did. Best wishes,

Where is Adam.

Dear Vicky,

Thanks for your kind comments on the photos.

With regards to Adam - you are right he is a beauty and born one year before me. I snapped him not very far from Kibo tented camp where I was staying. He was hanging around with some younger males.

With regards to the tailess bull, he walked pass our van towards 2 Elephant Trust landrovers near a swamp as a we drove away.

Out of interest I am trying to track to find out any information of two Male bulls I snapped in Ngorongoro in 2004 - would you be able to help?

He's a mystery male...

hi Hassan,

Thanks for the info re; Adam.

I remember that day with the tail-less bull - he's actually a mystery to us! We don't know where he came from, and he was a bit nervous around our vehicles,. He's probably an immigrant from Chyulu or Tsavo. That's the beauty of having an open ecosystem, like in Amboseli - animals are free to disperse across it.

Re males in Ngorongoro, no, I'm sorry I don't think I can help; I'm not sure who is working on that side of the border at the moment. If I do find out any information though, I will be sure to get back in touch.
